School's In Session: Breaking the Ice
Come learn about Lumen Vitae Coaching!
Hello, dear friends! After a quick rebrand, I am back. Lumen Vitae Coaching is here to stay and better than before. Homeschool parents new and seasoned, this publication is for you. As a homeschool coaching program, I focus on all things education and homeschooling. And I invite you to come along with me on this journey; to say that this is something I’m passionate about is an understatement.
So before I get onto the subject of Lumen Vitae as a coaching business, allow me to tell you a bit about myself! Of course, I’m not going to expect that you trust me without knowing anything about me.
My name is Bryce, and I am currently a student of elementary education, and I am also a former homeschooler myself. I’m also an American living abroad in Georgia 🇬🇪.
My story is a bit long and complicated, so I’ll keep this short. I fell in love with the idea of becoming a teacher just over a year ago. I was really lost in what I wanted to do for a career, and I looked back to how many, many people had told me that I would make a good teacher (combined with career tests), and I fell in love with the career field as I did more research into it. Everything I read made me excited to be a teacher, and even the bad stuff didn’t deter me. I wanted to teach 5th grade English and social studies, which have always been my favorite subjects.
Well…now things have changed a little. I still love the idea of being in the classroom, but I’m slowly realizing that I don’t want to be in the classroom (at least right now) for many of the same reasons that you all want to pull your kids from public school to teach them at home. Not to get political, but issues with weapons in school, as well as a lack of support from admin, overfilled classrooms, and so many other things…being a teacher or student isn’t the best in the United States right now. Don’t get me wrong, I have major respect for all teachers. Many of my friends and family members are teachers and they work hard. But burnout is common. I have a close friend who is only in the second semester of her first year teaching and she is already considering taking a break from the classroom. Things are crazy, y’all.
I also love teaching. I strongly believe that every child deserves a quality education, and they deserve to have one that teaches them in a way that works for their brain. As I was working to define what I wanted my business to be, I decided to return to my homeschooler past, and it happened to coincide with my degree and a future expansion that I’d like to make to Lumen Vitae Coaching (depending on legal requirements 👀).
So now that you know a bit about me, let’s learn a little about LVC. Lumen Vitae Coaching (lumen vitae meaning “light of life” in Latin) is for the homeschooling parents. Everyone talks about helping the children (which, of course, is the entire reason we’re doing this in the first place), but homeschooling your kid is hard. Whether you’re getting started or if you’re getting into a rut…it sucks. It can, and often is, fun, but there are times when you need help. We all have times where we need help, so there’s no shame in asking.
Here at Lumen Vitae, you will find all kinds of stuff. We have three different tiers of 1:1 coaching so that you can have clear and consistent support as you go about your homeschooling journey. Yes, you can go to a Facebook group (and honestly, I encourage you to!), but the information you get there is likely to be overwhelming and/or conflicting. Everyone has different experiences, and instead of helping you create a plan that works for you and your child, they’re just spilling the advice they have that worked for them. And let’s face it…other people’s experience is only helpful to us to a point. And when this is you…
“I feel like I don't even know what I'm doing. There's so much going on, and I'm scared I'm going to fail my child and mess up their education.” You’re so worried about failing your child, that it’s either making it difficult to get started or it’s deteriorating your will to continue with homeschooling. You want the best for your baby, but you feel stuck and don’t know where to go from here.
“My baby has no desire to learn. I want to motivate them, but sometimes it feels like it's not even worth the struggle. Someone please remind me why I'm doing this…” You’re facing the hardest part of homeschooling: your sweet child just doesn’t want to learn. Either they hate the subject, or they just have a million things they’d rather be doing (I’m sure we all do), but they’re just not into that. It makes the path seem entirely not worth it, like all you’re doing is making things worse than they used to be.
“I want to homeschool because public school is hurting my kids more than it's helping them. However, my spouse isn't in favor because they think it will be doing the kids a disservice, especially in terms of their social life.” Homeschooling is something you’re contemplating, but your partner is worried about the way it will affect your kids. It’s a major stereotype that homeschool kids aren’t socialized, and that isn’t something you want for your babies. What if they leave their friends from school and can’t find a way to keep an active social life once they’re not going to a public school every day?
When you’re these situations, broad advice from strangers isn’t always going to cut it.
When you work 1:1 with me, here’s what you get: we are going to sit down and go over your entire situation. Whether you’re new or just struggling, let’s talk it over. We’ll create a plan for you, I’ll get you some resources for your specific situation, and then you’ll get a recording of our call and my notes along with it. Not to mention, if you sign up for a larger package, you get SO much more. And the best part? When you start adding up everything, you’re getting an amazing deal that actually adds up to less than a private tutor for an entire semester.
Aside from 1:1 coaching, I’ll be gradually making and releasing a massive amount of content over every education subject you can think of. From quick lessons for you parents about child development theories to pre-planned lessons and unit study bundles, you’ll be able to find it all—paid and free. I know how many people are on a strict budget and your child’s education should not be impacted because of that. If you follow my Instagram, you’ll find book reviews and lessons (my current read is my third-grade favorite, Because of Winn-Dixie), science experiments, writing prompts, and so much more.
Finally, I’d like to thank you if you made it this far. And I would also like to give you a word of encouragement. I see so many parents that are worrying that they’re going to screw up their child’s education by homeschooling them. They’re worried they’ll fail their babies, and that is the last thing they want. Here’s a secret: you’re already ahead by a mile because your worry shows that you care. You’ll figure it out. Just like a teacher who just landed their first full-time job, it’s a growing pain. You’ll get better with time and as you experiment with what does and doesn’t work for you guys, things will start to feel less overwhelming and scary. But either way, you’re doing amazing and I’m so proud of you for being willing to ask for help and make sure you’re doing what is best for your child’s education.
If you’re interested in coaching with me, I definitely don’t expect you to sign up blindly. If you’re interested and want to learn more, book a free 15-minute discovery call with me right here. We’ll talk about the coaching programs and see what (if any) work for you. I strongly encourage you to take your time because your child’s education is a serious thing and I would hate for you to rush it, especially for me.
I hope you have a wonderful day, and please subscribe to see more content like this. I will be posting more often over a variety of subjects. If you’re interested, feel free to subscribe to my travel section too, to stay updated on my travels abroad (great info to teach your child about the world). Ciao!

I love this so much!👏
